Gangavalli is a small little town where one can see the touch of growth spilling out in its great splendour.
- Towards a challenging voyage, Rev. Fr. Henry Bonal dreamed it 40 years before in 1977.
- On 11th February 1977, pioneers Srs. Paschal, Emilia and Carmela brought Cluny presence to Gangavalli.
Founding Charism
We arrived here to take up the noble task of working for the betterment of the less privileged people of Gangavalli.
Health care and developmental programme was the first venture of the Hospital.
Poor health and health facility, malnutrition and lack of hygiene was the reason to start the mission among the people — to give them God’s healing care and to lead them into human dignity. Arokia Madha Nilayam has a story to share as another milestone crossed in the history of our province and the long-awaited dream of many who are alive as well as gone before us to God, of having a hospital in our Province.
July 15th dawned for us with celebration — the inauguration of our hospital building. A large number of our sisters from all the communities of our Province and from south west Province, Bishop of Salem and the priests around, well-wishers, friends, family members, Doctors and parishioners witnessed the grand opening. It began with prayer and unveiling of the name plaque, blessing and ribbon cutting by Sr. Norah and Sr. Jocelyn together, followed by ribbon cutting of different departments by previous Provincials, then blessed by Bishop, Fr. Bonal, and Fr. Theodore. This was followed by the solemn high mass of the feast of Blessed Anne Marie.
Though we had the inauguration on July 15th, we really started functioning in the new premises from August 15th again under the mantle of Our Lady of Good Health. We have now few more staff recruited and we also have DNA students from nearby institutes for their training.
